Follow the Citizens' Desire to Limit Growth
-
Use the 2023 Master Plan to guide land use decisions. Consider responsible growth only when adequate public facilities exist and our quality of life and community identity are enhanced.
-
Carefully consider property annexation for its ability to measurably increase our water reserves, eliminate our open space deficit, create buffer zones from encroaching development, and enhance our community.
-
Ensure rigorous review of development plans, waivers and approvals.
-
Conduct a review of town zoning and development codes. Identify lessons learned from past zoning and development successes and failures. Amend town codes and processes.
-
Support revision of design guidelines for new development that preserve and enhance the town’s architectural character and encourage environmentally responsible designs.
-
Advocate for the creation of a “Public Facilities Dashboard” for citizens to understand the town’s current adequacy of public facilities and assess future growth demands, and a “Land Use and Housing Diversity Dashboard” for citizens to understand the current housing mix and assess future diversification.

Implement “complete streets” design principles to provide safe and convenient accommodation to all potential users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike.

-
Consider expanding the town’s volunteer appreciation and recognition program categories above and beyond our current Volunteer of the Year award. Suggestions include: Volunteer Team of the Year, Volunteer Impact Player of the Year, and Volunteer Unsung Hero of the Year. The goal is to provide broader recognition to our outstanding volunteers on an annual basis.
